Summary of the Compact

The Compact of Weystadt was concluded during the Westphalian settlement of 1648 and served as the founding governance instrument of the Kingdom of Weymarck. It formalised the territorial sovereignty of the House of Wary, which had governed the realm since 1173, and established the original institutions of the Kingdom in the capital at Weystadt.

Article I. Sovereignty of the House of Wary

The House of Wary holds sovereign authority over the territory of Weymarck, its 312 square kilometres between Austria's Tyrol and Germany's Bavaria. The reigning head of the House of Wary serves as Head of State. Succession follows the hereditary customs of the dynasty established prior to this Compact.

Article II. Seat of Government

The seat of government is established at Weystadt. All instruments of governance, adjudication, and fiduciary administration shall issue from Weystadt. The Assembly of notables shall convene in Weystadt at the summons of the House of Wary.

Article III. Neutrality and Non-alignment

The Kingdom shall maintain neutrality in the affairs of neighbouring states. The House of Wary shall not enter into military alliances, confederations, or political unions. Relations with neighbouring territories are conducted solely for the preservation of sovereign independence and the protection of the territory.

Article IV. Fiduciary Trust

The assets of the realm are held in trust by the House of Wary for the benefit of the Kingdom and its subjects. Information concerning the composition, value, and management of state assets is not to be disclosed beyond the circle of the sovereign household. The motto of the Kingdom — Via et Fides — shall govern all fiduciary conduct.
